How to sell a PDF with one button

You've written a guide, a pattern or a template, and saved it as a PDF. You want people to pay for it and get it straight away, without you emailing each one.

The fewer steps between "I want this" and paying, the more people finish. So the simplest version is one button.

What the buyer does

  1. They tap Buy now on your page.
  2. Stripe's payment page opens. They type their email and card.
  3. They land back on your page with the download, and get the same link by email.

Your page asks them nothing. Stripe collects the email, so there is no form of ours to fill in first.

How the file stays private

The PDF sits in private storage, not at a public web address, so nobody can find it by searching or guessing. Only someone who has paid gets a link to it, and each link works for 5 minutes.

The buyer can come back any time. The link in their email asks for a fresh one each time they tap it. It keeps working even if you later take the product off sale.

A PDF opens in the browser, so a buyer on a phone can read it straight away.

What one sale costs

Say your guide is A$7, and an Australian buys it with an Australian card.

The buyer paysA$7
Our fee, 5% of the priceA$0.35
Stripe's card fee, 1.65% + 30cabout A$0.42
You keepabout A$6.23

Stripe's fee as published on 15 October 2026. A card from overseas costs more.

On top of that, the page itself is A$12 for the year. There is no postage on a download, so there is nothing else.

Before you put it up

  • Show a page or two of the PDF as photos, so buyers can see what they're getting.
  • Say how many pages it has, and who it's for.
  • Decide your refund rule and say it on the page. You can set a number of days for refunds.

Put your product on its own page

A gem is one product with its own page and checkout, at A$12.00 for the year. We take 5% of the item price when it sells, and none of the postage. Applying takes a minute, and a person reads every application.

The next 10 sellers get their first gem's year free with the code FIRSTGEM, typed on the payment page, until 31 December 2026.
